Already Had Fillers or Anti-Wrinkle Injections? How Volnewmer, Ultraformer MPT and VOLFORMER Fit In — Order and Waiting Times

Short answer: Fillers, anti-wrinkle injections (botulinum toxin) and tightening devices work on different layers, so they are often combined — but the order matters. On a combined day the device goes first and the injections follow, as an international consensus recommends (Carruthers et al., 2016). If filler was placed recently in the area, we wait before heating it: in a small study, radiofrequency on the same day as filler affected the filler in 5 of 14 people, versus 1 of 14 when done 14 or 28 days later (Jurairattanaporn et al., 2023). Volnewmer, Ultraformer MPT and VOLFORMER are single-session treatments, usually repeated once a year.

Three treatments, three layers

  • Botulinum toxin relaxes muscles: frown lines, forehead lines, crow's feet. It doesn't lift and doesn't add volume.

  • Fillers and biostimulators restore volume: cheeks, temples, chin, jawline.

  • Volnewmer (6.78 MHz monopolar radiofrequency) heats the dermis evenly to improve density and firmness.

  • Ultraformer MPT (focused ultrasound) works point by point, down to the deep support layer (SMAS) at 4.5 mm.

They don't replace each other. Filler won't tighten loose skin — it can make a sagging face look heavier — and no device restores lost volume.

On a combined day: device first

  1. Heat and fresh filler don't mix. Radiofrequency applied on the same day after hyaluronic acid filler affected the filler in the tissue more often than when it was done two or four weeks later (Jurairattanaporn et al., 2023).

  2. Fresh toxin is left alone. Pressure, gel and heat over a muscle that has just been injected are avoidable — so the injections come after the device.

  3. The consensus agrees. For same-day treatment, toxin and fillers can be done in either order, while focused ultrasound is recommended before injectables; where possible, consecutive treatments on the same area are spaced 1–2 weeks apart (Carruthers et al., 2016).

If you had injectables before you came

  • Filler in the treatment area within the last two weeks: we leave that area out or postpone it.

  • Filler 2–4 weeks ago: usually possible, decided at examination. Even at 14 and 28 days the study above saw a change in 1 of 14 people, so we stay cautious.

  • Filler many months or years ago: generally not a reason to refuse, but there is little data on old filler. We check where it sits — especially under the eyes, where superficial filler can show as a bluish tint (AAO EyeWiki).

  • Anti-wrinkle injections in the last 1–2 weeks: if possible, we let them settle first; the effect takes about two weeks to complete.

  • Biostimulators: the same principle applies — on a combined day the device comes first, and after an injection the area is given time. The interval is decided case by case.

Does the order change the result?

Honestly, the evidence on sequence comes from expert consensus and small studies, not from large trials. The order is mainly about safety, and about not undoing one treatment with another.

One visit, if you travel

Kırklareli is about 2 hours by car (≈190 km) from Istanbul Airport and about 30 km from the Bulgarian border at Dereköy–Malko Tarnovo. A combined visit usually looks like this: examination → device session → injections if indicated → fly home the next day. The toxin's full effect shows at about two weeks and the device result at about three months; both can be reviewed by photos. More: A one-day treatment plan near Istanbul

Frequently asked questions

I had lip filler last week. Can I still have Volnewmer?

Usually the rest of the face can be treated; we avoid heating directly over and around the freshly treated area.

Will radiofrequency melt my old filler?

The data we have concern filler placed on the same day or a few weeks earlier. For filler placed many months before, there is little data; we check and adjust the plan.

Can I have anti-wrinkle injections right after the device?

Yes — on the same visit, after the device. That is the recommended order.

Will I need less filler after tightening?

Sometimes. That is one reason the device comes first: what remains after tightening is the volume that is genuinely missing.

How often should I come?

The device session is usually once a year. Anti-wrinkle injections usually last 3–4 months; filler intervals depend on the product and the area.
