Short answer: Volnewmer is a skin-tightening device from the South Korean company Classys that works without needles or incisions. It uses 6.78 MHz monopolar radiofrequency to heat the dermis over a broad area: collagen fibres contract, and new collagen is built over the following weeks. Treatment is one session, needs no recovery time, the result develops over 2–3 months, and it is usually repeated once a year. It suits mild to moderate laxity; on its own it is not enough for marked sagging.

This page gathers the questions I hear most often at examination. The answers are kept short, with a link wherever a question deserves more detail. I perform Volnewmer in my practice and train other physicians on it for Classys; what follows summarises that experience and the published studies.

The basics

What is Volnewmer?

Volnewmer is a monopolar radiofrequency (RF) device used to tighten the skin. Classys introduced it in 2022. It has FDA 510(k) clearance in the USA (K240248, April 2024) and approval from the Korean MFDS, and in the USA it is also known as Everesse.

How does it work?

Radiofrequency energy heats not the skin surface but the dermis beneath it. Heated collagen fibres shorten at once, which is the first tightness you feel after treatment. Over the following weeks, fibroblasts produce new collagen and elastin. Throughout the treatment the tip is continuously cooled with water at 12–20 °C, which protects the surface while the energy reaches deeper.

Is it the same as Thermage?

It belongs to the same technology class: both use 6.78 MHz monopolar radiofrequency. The main difference is cooling: Volnewmer uses continuous water cooling, Thermage intermittent cryogen spray. In a randomised split-face study of 22 women, the two methods gave similar clinical improvement, and participants reported significantly less treatment pain on the water-cooled side (Roh et al., 2025). It is a single, small study; the outcome depends more on patient selection and the right settings than on the device. More: Volnewmer vs Thermage: an honest comparison.

How is it different from Ultraformer MPT (HIFU)?

Ultraformer MPT uses focused ultrasound to concentrate energy in points at set depths (1.5–4.5 mm) and targets the deep supporting layer (SMAS). Volnewmer heats the dermis volumetrically over a broad area, so skin quality and surface firmness come first. In short: ultrasound works from deep, radiofrequency tightens from above. Using both in the same session, in a set order, is what we call the VOLFORMER protocol. More: The VOLFORMER protocol.

Treatment and recovery

Does Volnewmer hurt?

Each pulse brings an intense feeling of heat that lasts a few seconds. The energy is adjusted during treatment according to your feedback; anaesthesia is usually not needed, and numbing cream can be used for sensitive patients. The skin around the eyes and over bony areas is more sensitive. More: Does Ultraformer MPT or Volnewmer hurt? Comfort and downtime.

How long does the treatment take?

It depends on the area and the number of pulses: usually 30–45 minutes for the face alone, and 45–60 minutes for face and neck together. With examination, photos and preparation, you spend about 1–1.5 hours at the practice.

Can I go back to work afterwards?

Yes. Mild redness and warmth usually settle within a few hours, so you can return to work the same day. I recommend postponing sauna, Turkish bath (hamam) and intense exercise for 24–48 hours. More: After Volnewmer: the first 48 hours and possible side effects.

How many sessions do I need?

One. The result is assessed at month 3, and one session a year is usually planned to maintain it. What matters is not adding sessions but giving that single session at the right dose and at the right time.

When will I see results?

You may feel slight tightness straight after treatment, but the real change depends on new collagen, so it develops gradually over 2–3 months. That is why we compare photos taken before treatment and at month 3 in the same light and from the same angle.

Is the effect permanent?

No. Ageing continues, so the effect is not permanent; one treatment a year is usually recommended to maintain it. Sun protection and not smoking help preserve the result.

Who is it for?

Who is Volnewmer suitable for?

It suits mild to moderate skin laxity, a softening jawline, thin skin that creases easily, thin skin around the eyes, and laxity after weight loss (once weight has been stable for at least 3 months). Good candidates do not want surgery and have realistic expectations. More: Who is (and isn't) a good candidate for Volnewmer.

Who is it not suitable for?

It is not done during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with a pacemaker or other implanted electronic device, or where there is a metal implant, an active infection or an open wound in the treatment area. On its own it is not enough for marked skin excess or advanced sagging; in that case we discuss surgical options.

At examination you will always be asked about the medications you take and your previous treatments (fillers, threads, biostimulators, permanent fillers).

At what age can it be done?

The tissue decides, not the age. In the 30s skin quality is usually the main issue, in the 40s the supporting tissue, and in the 50s both.

Is it suitable for men?

Yes. Men's skin is thicker and sagging shows mostly along the jawline; the aim is not to change the face but to sharpen the jawline.

Treatment areas

Can it be used around the eyes?

Yes. There is a dedicated 0.25 cm² tip for the eye area, used on the thin skin of the eyelids and under the eyes. The treatment is applied to the skin around the eye, not to the eye itself, and the eye is protected. Not every under-eye concern is thin skin, so the examination decides whether Volnewmer is the right tool.

Can it treat the neck and double chin?

Yes. A 3 cm² tip is used for the jawline and a 4 cm² tip for the face and neck; benefit is expected in mild to moderate neck laxity. If the main problem under the chin is fat, a different approach is needed. More: Volnewmer for neck and jawline.

Can it be used on the body?

Yes. A 16 cm² body tip is used for areas such as the abdomen, arms and above the knees. It targets mild to moderate laxity; it has no effect on excess skin or on separated abdominal muscles. More: Loose skin on the abdomen, arms and knees.

Safety and other treatments

What are the side effects?

The most common are temporary redness, mild swelling and tenderness to touch, which usually resolve within hours to a few days. Blistering, crusting or a slight dent in the skin surface are rare. In a retrospective review of more than 600 monopolar radiofrequency treatments, temporary side effects occurred in 2.7%, and all resolved on their own (Weiss et al., 2006; an older-generation device). More: Aftercare and when to contact us.

Can it be done on the same day as botox or fillers?

Yes, but the order matters: Volnewmer first, then filler, and botox last. Heat is not applied over fresh filler. If you had injections before your visit, waiting times apply in the treatment area: roughly 1–2 weeks after botox, 2–4 weeks after hyaluronic acid filler and about 4 weeks after a biostimulator. More: Already had fillers or injections? Order and waiting times.

Can I have it while using a weight-loss injection (GLP-1)?

While your weight is still dropping quickly it is too early; the right time is once your weight has been stable for at least 3 months. More: Loose skin after GLP-1 weight loss.

What should I check before having Volnewmer in Turkey?

Volnewmer is a medical device; patient selection and the energy and pulse plan are a physician's decision. Ask who performs the treatment, who makes the decisions, and whether an original device and original tips are used. A general checklist: Is aesthetic treatment in Turkey safe?

How much does it cost?

In line with Turkish regulations, prices are not published. The price depends on the areas treated, the number of pulses and the plan; it is given to you in writing, in euro, before you travel and confirmed at the examination. What it depends on: Volnewmer price guide.

Travelling from abroad

How do I get to Kırklareli from Istanbul?

Fly into Istanbul Airport (IST) on the European side: Kırklareli is roughly 190 km away, about 2 hours by car via the Northern Marmara Motorway. The practice arranges a private VIP transfer, with the driver meeting you at arrivals, and the transfer conditions are confirmed in your written offer before you book flights. Step by step: Istanbul Airport to Kırklareli with a VIP transfer.

Assessment and appointment: Whether Volnewmer suits you is decided at examination, with AURA 3D skin analysis when needed. Before you travel, send photos on WhatsApp for preliminary information: you receive the price in euro in writing before you book flights; the assessment and treatment plan are made at the examination. The practice is in Kırklareli, Türkiye (İstasyon Mahallesi, Edirne Caddesi No:102, Kırklareli, Türkiye), about 2 hours by car from Istanbul Airport (IST) and about 45 minutes from Edirne.
