Loose Skin on the Abdomen, Arms and Knees: What Volnewmer Can and Can't Do on the Body

Short answer: Volnewmer's 16 cm² body tip is designed for mild to moderate skin laxity on the abdomen, inner arms, above the knees and inner thighs. It aims to tighten the skin; it does not reduce fat, remove excess skin or correct separated abdominal muscles (diastasis recti). After pregnancy it is planned once breastfeeding has ended; after weight loss, once your weight has been stable for at least 3 months. The evidence for the body is more limited than for the face, and expectations should reflect that.

Three different causes of loose skin on the body

  1. Thinned, stretched skin: caused by pregnancy, weight change and age. This is what the device targets.

  2. Excess skin: skin that hangs forward and folds when you stand. The device cannot fix it; it is a matter for surgical options such as a tummy tuck or an arm lift.

  3. Muscle and fascia: separation of the abdominal muscles after pregnancy (diastasis). The device has no effect here; physiotherapy or a surgical assessment is needed.

Most patients have a mix of these. At examination we first work out which one dominates, and the plan follows from that.

Who is a candidate?

  • Mild to moderate laxity on the abdomen after pregnancy, with thin, crepey-looking skin

  • Laxity on the inner arms and inner thighs after weight loss

  • Skin that gathers above the knees with age

  • People who don't want surgery, or who are not yet suitable for it

Who isn't?

  • People with marked excess skin

  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding

  • A pacemaker or other implanted electronic device; metal implants in the treatment area

  • People who are still losing weight (the result would be planned for tissue that is still changing)

  • An active infection or a wound in the treatment area

The right timing

  • After pregnancy: once breastfeeding has ended and your weight is stable. If the abdominal muscles have separated, that is assessed first.

  • Weight loss with a GLP-1 injection or diet: once your weight has been stable for at least 3 months. More: Loose skin after GLP-1 weight loss

  • Season: radiofrequency does not make the skin sensitive to light, so it can be done at any time of year.

What to expect

It is done in a single session, and the change develops over 2–3 months. What you can expect is skin that looks firmer and less crepey. You should not expect a noticeably smaller waist, or loose skin to disappear. To maintain the result, a repeat is usually planned once a year. The number of pulses is decided at examination, based on the size of the area and the thickness of the skin.

If you are travelling, include photos of the body areas when you write to us, so that the length of the session can be planned in advance.

What does the evidence say?

The effect of monopolar radiofrequency on the face has been shown in many studies. Data for the body are scarcer: a clinical study evaluating new-generation monopolar radiofrequency for body contouring (Sadick, 2014), and a report of two patients treated with Volnewmer for laxity of the abdomen after pregnancy and above the knees (cases of Dr. Mariana Gradowski, reported by Hilton, 2025). These are encouraging but small. So on the body we see radiofrequency as an option that improves skin quality in a well-chosen patient, not as a replacement for surgery.

Frequently asked questions

Will Volnewmer get rid of stretch marks?

Volnewmer is not a stretch mark (striae) treatment; tightening of the surrounding skin may partly improve how they look. For stretch marks: Scar, keloid and stretch mark treatment

Does Volnewmer work for cellulite?

Cellulite is mainly caused by the structure of the fat and connective tissue under the skin, so we do not recommend Volnewmer as a cellulite treatment.

Can the face and body be treated with Volnewmer in the same session?

Yes, although the total treatment time is longer. Which area takes priority is decided together at examination. For other questions: Volnewmer FAQ.

Assessment and appointment: Whether Volnewmer suits you is decided at examination, with AURA 3D skin analysis when needed. Before you travel, send photos on WhatsApp for preliminary information: you receive the price in euro in writing before you book flights; the assessment and treatment plan are made at the examination. The practice is in Kırklareli, Türkiye (İstasyon Mahallesi, Edirne Caddesi No:102, Kırklareli, Türkiye), about 2 hours by car from Istanbul Airport (IST) and about 45 minutes from Edirne. A private VIP transfer from Istanbul Airport can be arranged.
