Mineral vs Chemical Sunscreen: Which Is Better?
Short answer: Both work. Mineral filters (zinc oxide, titanium dioxide) are the first choice for sensitive skin and children; chemical filters are cosmetically lighter. Dermatology's golden rule: the best sunscreen is the one you actually apply, generously, every day.
How the two differ
Mineral filters sit on the skin and reflect/absorb UV; chemical filters absorb UV and convert it to heat. The "mineral = natural, chemical = dangerous" narrative is marketing - both groups are approved and effective.
